The Unbeatable Ross Martin | 6th & 7th October
Ross returned to Knockhill for the final round in the FF1600 Scottish Championship. Having already been crowned champion in the last outing, all that was left to be achieved was a perfect season.
I still had one more task to complete, an unbeaten season, cementing me in Scottish Formula Ford history – Ross Martin
A very wet track would make for a very difficult qualifying session for all concerned. Visibility and grip being at an all-season low – a red flag would temporarily halt proceedings but Ross rejoined with a clear track ahead and posted an impressive pole time.
With conditions still difficult Ross delivered an impressive start – no spinning wheels – gaining a comfortable lead. It was clear Ross was concentrating on a clean race which allowed pressure to build up behind, but to no avail. Another race win with only one to go for a perfect season!
Another impressive start, an incident behind allowing Ross to effectively disappear into the horizon. This comfort however would not last as a safety car was later deployed – bunching up the pack. A perfectly timed restart catapulted him ahead of 2nd place and effectively secured the victory. A victory in every race and an outstanding display of talent.
Ross after the race explained,
This just shows how good of a job my team does. The car is the most reliable on the gird. I would like to say a huge thanks to them, my sponsors and friends and family for their continued support.
Thanks to Jim Moir for the pictures.
